Pregnancy & Baby care
This week's recipe
On this page I want to discuss the fertility problems we are experiencing more and more often nowadays, together with the subsequent pregnancy and care of babies. My own experience has been quite astounding. I was told by my gynaecologist that I would not be able to conceive, as I had been diagnosed as having poly cystic ovaries; in addition I was never ovulating nor was I producing sufficient female hormones (progesterone and oestrogen). Instead I was producing too much male hormone, which prevented me from ovulating. My partner was told that he too was infertile because his sperm count was 99% below normal.
It seemed as though it would be impossible ever to have a baby. But, never underestimate the healing power of natural medicine!
By going onto a healing macrobiotic diet for a lengthy period, together with some lifestyle changes and some other natural remedies (Chinese herbs in our case. I have a link on the link pager for the practice we both attended in connection with our infertility problems.) we both managed to overcome our problems and we are now expecting our baby!
I would like to work with people going through similar problems as I know how frustrating it can be, especially as there is not enough information available about different natural ways of treating infertility. I also want to encourage mothers and mothers-to-be to look after their diet. What we eat goes into our bloodstream, and then to the foetus and later the breast milk, and we really want make sure that we provide the best for our little ones!

Then we come to the weaning of the child, which is a lot healthier than giving them milk from another source (different animals, or formula milk powders). We, humans, are the only animals (and the ones we domesticate) giving our babies milk after the breastfeeding is over. This is quite unnecessary and is more harmful than helpful. I want to work with parents who are serious about making this process as natural as possible. After that there would be some general guidance about toddlers and their growing process. Childhood is a crucial time for the future generation to learn not only good, but the best eating and lifestyle habits.
