Macrobiotics

I would like to explain what I understand about macrobiotics. I don't want to get into technicalities or definition of the word, or all the philosophy behind it, but I really recommend you to read about it. There are a lot of very interesting links on this website to explore more about the subject. People who have heard about macrobiotics but not investigated any further, think of it as a healing diet for cancer and other serious ailments. This is a very limited view of macrobiotics. To be sure it has an amazing record of healing, but that is only one aspect of it. It is also a way of helping your body to reach its full potential in health and wel-being, it is a new way of approaching life.

It also offers fresh enjoyment to something you do every day - shopping, cooking, and eating - because it takes you away from familiar repetitions in these habits and shows what an enjoyable adventure it can be to seek out what foods are available, find new ways of preparing them, and learn the art of artistic presentation. I am very happy to help those people wanting to be helped to heal various conditions, but I would like especially to offer people a really healthy and enjoyable way of eating.

Cooking with sea vegetables, whole grains, pulses, vegetables, doesn't need to be restrictive! There are hundreds of different varieties of them, and many different styles of cooking! I want to show you how to be inventive and take pleasure in deep frying, baking cakes, soups, creams, mashes, etc.

Let me explain why macrobiotics inspires me. Nowadays, we are so disconnected from our instincts, true nature and balance in general. We are over stimulated by many different technologies and fast ways of living. We eat all kinds of fruits and vegetables, flown to us from all parts of the world - robbing us of a four season climate. We eat what is topical and tropical. We eat in winter foods that have ripened in the summer of other climates and vice versa - without even thinking about it. Is this what millions of years of mutation has taught our bodies to use? Or is it confusing our bodies natural intuitions?

Thinking on a more macrobiotic way, when we become healthier (cleaner) in body and mind, we reinstate our body's intuition and it tells us what suits us and what doesn't. What I mean is if we can go back to a time when we ate what was available to us naturally (eating seasonal and local produce), we would feel more attached to nature, and re-awake our instincts, restoring our physical (even our mental) balance in doing this.

If we gather together all these ideas, and get to know our emotions and how can we help heal them by the food we eat ( I say help, as diet alone might not be enough for healing traumas and long term problems) this new way of life can change our lives in a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level! Think of all the new things we can learn and enjoy, instead of focusing on matters we should avoid, as we have been doing for far too long. Macrobiotics can be an amazing holistic way of healing and enjoying life!
